- SOURCES SOUGHT MARKET SURVEYCAL.50 LIGHTWEIGHT MACHINE GUN 1. Sources are being sought for a crew-served, lightweight, low-recoil, self-powered Caliber.50 Machine Gun. This gun must be of a design maturity soas to be ready to enter Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP). 2. Key weapon characteristics: a. The weapon shall be able to fire all current U.S. Army standard caliber.50 ammunition linked with M9 links. b. Weight: 45 lb maxc. Recoil: 325 lb. to the mountd. Environments: Operable in all environments encountered by the military. The above weapon characteristics do not represent a complete listing of performance parameters. Rather, they are the primary indicators of the designs suitability to meet the most challenging requirements of the customer. 3. Maturity: Weapons must be of a design and manufacturing maturity to permitdelivery of four (4) First Article Test (FAT) sample weapons within twelve (12) months of contract award, however an earlier, shortened delivery period is encouraged. An additional forty (40) weapons are required within fifteen (15) months of contract award. Contract award is planned for FY12. Production deliveries to commence within 90 days of successful completion of the FAT. 4. Manuals: Draft Operators and Maintainers instruction manuals are to be delivered with the FAT sample weapons. 5. Responding parties should: a. Provide design sketches/photos/ drawings of the weapon. b. Identify receiver life, barrel life, weapon reliability (mean rounds between failure & mean rounds between stoppage), within burst dispersion and burst-to-burst dispersion. c. Provide any test data that substantiates the designs ability to meet these performance criteria. d. Identify the facility(ies) where the production would take place (location, square footage, equipment, etc), if available. e. Identify any existing or pending (applied for) quality standards/ certifications of the identified production facility(ies). f. Identify minimum monthly sustaining production rate. g.Identify any key price point/ price break monthly production quantities. h. Identify recent production contracts of same/similar products manufactured within the last five (5) years, if available. 6. Funds for facilitization or tooling will not be made available as respondents are expected to self-facilitize. 7.
