Description

***The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 6.302-1 with Omicron Associates in Eden Prairie, MN for the purchase of a Kelvin Probe upgrade to an Omicron Scanning Probe Microscope *** The sole source is based on the following: Omicron Nanotechnology is the proposed contractor for this purchase and the manufacturer of our upgradable microscope (Model: VT-AFM). Any other provider of such an instrument would require the entire purchase of a new scanning probe microscope, which would be cost prohibitive and undesirable. No other company could provide electronics upgrades to interface with our existing electronics and software originally supplied by Omicron Nanotechnology. ***Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all bids, proposals or quotations received by the closing response date will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The NAICS classification is 334516, Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing. The small business size standard is 500 employees.
