Description
The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), Office of Acquisitions Station Support Simplified Acquisitions Branch on behalf of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) intends to negotiate, on a non-competitive basis, with DIGILAB, INC., 84 October Hill Road, Holliston, MA 01746, for a replacement of an existing Proprep in-gel digestion robot. This acquisition will be processed under FAR Part 12 - Acquisition for Commercial Items and will be made pursuant to the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) and FAR 13.501 (a)(1) to use Simplified Acquisition Procedure for commercial items. The North American Industry Classification System Code for this acquisition is 334516 and the size standard is 500 employees. A major part of the mission of the Protein Facility at NINDS is the performance in-gel digestion of proteins for Protein ID. The huge volume of samples submitted by the NINDS and other NIH Investigators require the use of Laboratory Robot to perform the tedious steps in this process. - The Investigator ProPrep is a fully integrated system for automated in-gel digestion and spotting of proteins separated by electrophoresis. ProPrep combines the functions of the existing Investigator digestion (ProGest) and spotting (ProMS) stations; into a single, integrated platform thereby offering increased throughput, flexibility and capability. In addition, to spotting peptide fragments, the user can also re-plate peptide pools into 96 or 384 well plates for additional analysis by other methods such as LC/MS/MS. - The ProPrep includes proven protocols covering all of the steps of in-gel digestion: washing, reduction, alkylation and proteolytic digestion. The instrument also automates sample cleanup procedures, addition of matrix, and spotting onto MDLDT targets. - The built-in Window 2000 workstation, SQL Server 2000 database and LCD monitor enable the user to easily store protocols, bed layouts & create customized protocols using the included Method Editor software. - One (1) year warranty and replacement parts, technical support included. - One (1) preventive maintenance inspection, free software upgrades, and emergency service visits included. - Dimensions: 110cm (w) x 80 cm (d) x 97 cm (Lid Closed) 180 cm (Incl. Cart) + 58 cm w/ door open (h) Many in-gel digestion protocols have been developed over the years specifically using this instrument. It is important to replace the instrument with the exact same model and make to continue the studies at the NINDS Lab. DigiLab Inc. is the only known company who manufacture the In-gel digestion Laboratory Robots. It is therefore determined that Digilab is the only source qualified to provide the required item. No other sources will satisfy the agency's requirement. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses submitted to ln18x@nih.gov on or before 5:00 PM ET January 15, 2011. All information furnished must be in writing and must contain sufficient detail to allow the government to determine if it can meet the above specifications described herein. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
