Description

The Department of Veterans Affairs, Iowa City VA Medical Center, Iowa City, IA intends to negotiate a sole source procurement under the authority of FAR 6.302.1, with University of Iowa, Central EM Facility, Iowa City 52242, to provide support of Research Project, "CaMKII Mediates Vascular Smooth Cell Hypertrophy and Hypertension". Interested parties may identify their experience in providing technical research services to the Contracting Officer via e-mail at anne.johnson@va.gov or fax 319-887-4957. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation number is VA-263-11-RQ-0123 and issued as a request for quote (RFQ). The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-46, effective Oct 29, 2010. The associated NAICS code is 622110 and small business size standard is $34.5M. The acquisition is not set-aside and is being negotiated as a sole source procurement. The requirement for services in support of this research project includes the following: ITEM 1.Support of research project, "CaMKII Mediates Vascular Smooth Cell Hypertrophy and Hypertension", Grant #BX000163, to provide usage of the confocal microscope, cryostat/microtome, staining equipment, and digital microscope for documenting images.
