- **** Please contact Harold Smith only for questions or to submit quotes atHarold.Smith-1@NASA.GOV.**** THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO.1 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR STEEL PLATESBARS AND BEAMS. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This noticeserves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will notbe issued. The purpose of this amendment is to answer questions which have been generated from thissolicitation.QUESTIONS:1.On one of the items for Solicitation Number NNM11366250Q.You have one 12' piece of 3.00' X 2-1/2' X 3/16' Rectangular Tube. Is this the correctsize? Would 3-1/2' X 2-1/2' X 3/16' Rectangular Tube be acceptable.ANSWER:Yes, we are willing to accept the suggested change in size for the rectangular tube;3-1/2' X 2-1/2' X 3/16'.QUESTION:2. Item #13 on specification sheet - 3' x 2-1/2' x 3/16' Rect. Tube. This is not a goodsize normally, could you use an alternate size such as 3' x 3' x 3/16'? Or what othersize could you use instead?ANSWER:Yes please see question 1.QUESTION:3. On the above-referenced solicitation, you are calling out A36 on the HSS sections. The A36 equivalent for HSS is actually ASTM A500 Grade B. On the 1' x 3/16' flat bar,the mild carbon equivalent to A36 willmost likely be a C1018, or perhaps C1018 coldfinished bar. Both are 'better' than A36 because they have tighter tolerances, and they should be much more readily available. The 1/8 x 2ft x 2ft might be A36, or it may be ahot rolled sheet spec. Plates that are rolled as plate in that thickness are much more expensive than plates that are flattened from sheet coil. Are you willing to accept amaterial change?ANSWER: The suggested material changes do not appear to be technically unfeasible, but willlikely increase costs. If the vender wishes to submit a bid based on the alternativematerials, that would be acceptable though not advisable. The due date for receipt of offers is extended to 12/23/2010 by 12:00 P.m. CST.Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASAAcquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on 12/13/2010.
