Project Title: ENVIRONMENTAL AND ASBESTOS SAMPLING, TESTING, AND AIR MONITORING FOR THE LAGUARDIA AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL TOWER (LGA ATCT) IN FLUSHING, NY Point of Contact: Glenn Fox McCarthy, (718) 553-3085; Glenn.Fox.McCarthy@faa.govDate Closed: 22DEC10.________________________________________________________________________ Project Description The Federal Aviation Administration has a requirement for Environmental and Asbestos Sampling, Testing, and Air Monitoring for the LGA ATCT in Flushing, NY. The LaGuardia Air Traffic Control Tower (LGA ATCT) is an 11 story structure occupied by the Federal Aviation Administration. The objective of this work plan is to identify the procedures and sequencing required to perform asbestos and lead containing coating abatement and demolition from the fourth floor to roof. The project involves coordination between asbestos abatement, lead containing coating abatement, and mercury containing fluorescent light tubes, PCB ballast removal and facility demolition. Sequence of OperationsThe sequence of operations to remove asbestos containing materials from the ATCT is described in detail below. Prior to beginning new steps and on a daily basis, the work will be coordinated with PANYNJ and FAA to allow scheduling of PANYNJ and FAA personnel and third party monitoring. The sequences of work activities are as follows: Step 1 - Work Area PreparationStep 2 - Temporary UtilitiesStep 3 - Install Critical BarriersStep 4 - Construct ContainmentsStep 5 - Gross Abatement and CleaningStep 6 - Visual InspectionStep 7 - Containment TeardownStep 8 - Lead Spot AbatementStep 9 - Demobilize The estimated price range for this project is between $100,000.00 and $200,000.00. The contractor shall perform at least fifteen (15) percent of the cost of the contract, not including the cost of materials, with its own employees. The project duration is 200 calendar days.
