Description
The US Air Force Europe (USAFE), at Ramstein AB, Germany, has a service requirement to Remove Rubber from the Air Field. The service will encompass removing all rubber from runways and taxiways that consist of both concrete and asphalt areas. The concrete has normal bituminous joint seals and the asphalt areas consist of both normal 0/11-asphalt mix an porous friction mix areas. The estimated area of the runway requiring rubber removal is approximately 60,000 to 70, 000 square meters. The equipment shall be able to generate at least a constant 900 bar of pressure, water flow of 180 liters per miniute and clean a minimum surface width of 1.60 meters in one run. The water flow of the pump has to be at least 80 l/min to carefully remove the rubber from the runway. Performance shall be accomplished with equipment having a water pressure capacity to clean an average 1,000 sqm (10,800 square feet [SF]) of surface per hour. The equipment shall have an adequate lighting system for day or night-time operations. The contractor shall completely remove absorbed water and rubber residue from the runway surface and dispose of properly in accordance with local laws. Removal services shall be done without the use of chemical agents, sandblasting, or road sweeping machines and the services will be performed during night time hours, (2000 hrs to 0600 hrs). Specific details of the requirement will be outlined in the Performance Work Statement. The request for proposals (RFP) will be issued at a later time and proposals will be due 30 days after the RFP issue date. The anticipated award will be a firm-fixed price for services to be completed no later than 30 Sep 2011. No further synopsis will be published.
