- Transparent Armor - RFI On behalf of the Vehicle Security Advisory Group (VSAG), the Combating Terrorism Technical Support Office (CTTSO) is requesting information for the purpose of obtaining market research for pre-certified or emerging transparent vehicle armor and the international companies offering these solutions. The VSAG is an international forum for government personnel to collaborate on challenges related to VIP vehicle armoring and solutions to mitigate the probability and extend of injury from ballistic and blast threats. Please reference the following points when responding to this RFI. 1.Protection Level - the desired protection level is EN1063 BR7 (or equivalent from list below). Provide test results and certifications achieved to date for specific solutions. NIJ Standard - 0108.01 Ballistic Resistant Protective Materials Australian & New Zealand Standards AS/NZS 2343:1997 European Standard EN 1063:1999 Security Glazing Ballistic Standard US MIL STD 662F DEC 1997 - V50 Ballistic Test for Armor NATO Standard Stanag 4569 - Ballistic Protection for Light Armoured Vehicles 2.Material Makeup - discuss the specific materials and layering strategy used for each solution. 3.Size/Shape - discuss the ability to produce window sizes and complex curvatures typical of passenger vehicles (sedans, SUVs). Identify the maximum window size fabricated to date. 4.Weight/Thickness - indicate the required areal density (pounds per square foot) and thickness (inches) to achieve the desired protection level. 5.Optical - provide details and any test results related to luminous transmittance, haze, optical deviation and distortion, abrasion/chemical/environmental resistance (low pressure, high/low temperatures, temperature shock, ultraviolet radiation, rain, humidity, salt, sand, dust, vibration, acoustic noise, etc.). 6.Manufacturing - discuss your manufacturing capabilities, production rate, and lead time following order receipt. 7.Cost - identify product cost in terms of U.S. dollars per square inch and indicate any cost savings for quantity procurements. 8.Other - identify any unique features/capabilities of each solution.
