- Description
- The following were questions and answers a potential bidder had on 12/01/2010: Section 2.3.7.4 the crimp style female mating connector shall be capable of securing 20/22 AWG wire. The connector we were planning to use is rated for 16/20 AWG. Is this acceptable? RESPONSE: A connector capable of accepting 16-20 AWG wire (inclusive) is acceptable. Section 2.4.2 the solenoid(s) input control voltage shall be 24Vdc +/- 5Vdc. The specification on the solenoid we are planning to use is 24Vdc -15% / +10%. Is this acceptable.? RESPONSE: Solenoids rated for 24 VDC with tolerance of -15% / +10% is acceptable. Section 2.7 Cleaning Procedure - Attached is a copy of our companies cleaning procedure. Please confirm that this is acceptable. RESPONSE: The cleaning procedure appears to be in compliance with our LT-ENG-RSI-SR-VA-002 specification, as required in section 2.7 of the gate valve technical specification. The contractor must conform to our guidelines, specifically in section 4.5 'Cleaning' of the aforementioned specification. 'Recommended' does not mean required, it is suggestive to that noted, or comparable. As a note, the 'RGA Measurement' section of your companies document XXXXXXXX does not substitute for our requirements dictated in section 2.9.2 of the technical specification. Section 2.9 Valve Test Procedure - Attached is a copy of our companies test procedure. Please confirm that this is acceptable. RESPONSE: The gate seal must face away from the vacuum pumps in the test apparatus when performing the seat leak test. This better stresses the seal for leak integrity. The RGA spectrum analysis must conform to 2.9.2.1 of the BNL specification (similar, but more specific than your procedure). Your companies procedure as written, and our specification requirements, appear to collaborate. Contractor can test accordingly to their procedure, but must advise any exception(s) they intend to have that deviates from the BNL technical specification requirements with justification. BNL must then give approval for any deviations or exceptions. Section 5.2 End Item Documentation Package Attached is a drawing which shows the parts we are planning to have identification certificates for. This does not include the bonnet seal. Is this a requirement? I can ask for it if necessary but it may be difficult to impossible to obtain and expensive. Please clarify. RESPONSE: All items indicated in the BNL specification must be traceable, material certifications must be requested from third parties by the contractor, and supplied when feasible. If there is to be an exception, the specific item must be identified, along with justification of non-compliance for our review and consideration.
