- Questions and Answers- 30 December 2010 Aluminum Pallets- Solicitation FA8601-11-T-0034 1. QUESTION: How can I obtain the SOW? ANSWER: The only specifications are those listed in the solicitation. The critical requirement is that the pallets can support 6,000 lbs. You are welcome to propose what you think will work best for the USAF Museum. Please remember that the proposal will be evaluated on price. The offeror with the lowest price/technically acceptable will win the award. 2. QUESTION: Are there any drawings or blueprints available? Can you give the thickness of the top plate and slats? ANSWER: There are not any drawings (see response above). There is not a specification for the thickness of the top plate and slats. The height of the pallet should be 6"; the weight capacity is 6,000 lbs. 3. QUESTION: What dimensional tolerances are permitted on the length, width, & especially the height? In particular referencing the height, a pallet could be constructed using stringers made from standard shapes of 6-inch width with sheathing attached on either side thus making an overall thickness in excess of 6-inches by two times the sheathing thickness. ANSWER: You are limited to only the specifications listed in the solicitation. 4. QUESTION: Are the loads placed upon the pallets distributed evenly and uniformly across the total surface of the pallets? If not, how and where are the loads applied and distributed? ANSWER: The loads are not necessarily evenly distributed on the pallet. The manner of distribution is unknown at this time. 5. QUESTION: What percentage of the slatted pallet surfaces is open space? Are the top & bottom surfaces to be the same? ANSWER: The top and bottom surfaces should be identical. There is not a percentage requirement for the slatted/open surface area. 6. QUESTION: Are we correct to assume that by "solid pallets" it is meant that the top surface is to be a continuous plate with no openings? If so, shall the bottom surface be the same? ANSWER: Yes, the term solid in "solid pallets" means a continuous plate with no openings. Yes, the bottom surface should be identical to the top surface. 7. QUESTION: Regarding the openings for "Two-Way Entry", are we correct to assume that the two entry sides are opposite one another? ANSWER: The "entries" in the "two-way entry" should be opposite each other in order to allow the use of a forklift. 8. QUESTION: Are there any prints available for this request and how many times a year would orders be placed for these pallets? ANSWER: There are not any prints available. This is a onetime order. 9. QUESTION: What is the required delivery date? ANSWER: The pallets will be delivered by June, 2011. 10. QUESTION: Is there a Brand preference for these pallets? No
