Description

A draft solicitation is being released with this announcement for industry review and comment. In addition to comments on the general content of the scope and technical requirements, a review of the requirements should include the identification of cost drivers, including rough estimates of cost impact, so the Navy may conduct a trade off analysis of performance versus cost drivers prior to releasing the final RFP. Subsequent to this announcement, additional information will be provided in the form of the draft technical specification outline and a populated draft technical specification. An attendees list from the Industry Day for the Development and Production of the Arleigh Burke Class Destroyer (DDG 51) Hybrid Electric Drive (HED) for Backfit Fuel Savings will also be posted. These documents will be posted with restricted access controlling sensitive but unclassified document packages (limited to US DoD and US DoD contractors only) and recipients of this information must exercise good judgment on what parts of this technical information they deem necessary to share with suppliers who meet the requirements of the distribution statement. Industry comments are requested no later than 01 Feb 2011, but not before the aforementioned documents have been released. All inquiries should be emailed to tara.borntreger@navy.mil.
