Description
SCOPE OF WORK DEMOLITION AND SITE PREP FOR NEW BUIDLINGS PROJECT NUMBER 575-11-103 This project is a construction contract. The contract will remove two (2) concrete structured buildings located on the grounds of the VA Medical Center, Grand Junction, Colorado. The buildings to be demolished are designated Building 2 and Building 3. Coordination between all on-site VA constructions projects are expected by this contract. Constructed in 1948, the buildings are set on wooden pilings. Building 2 is a -2- storied, concrete shell with wood framed floors, walls and roof. The roofing is fired tile. Building 3 is a -2- storied, concrete shell with concrete floors and wood framed walls. Both buildings have a full concrete floored basement. Water, electricity and sewer are active in both buildings and are expected to be terminated outside the prime construction area. A portion of the pilings are expected to be removed during demolition. Both building structures have been certified as being lead and asbestos free. Upon demolition of the buildings, the contractor shall replace all excavated areas with a compactable gravel/sand mixture suitable for future building construction. The design and construction of this project is anticipated to involve 180 days. During the construction period, the contractor is expected to provide safety barriers and other means to ensure the safety of patients, visitors and staff. The design and build shall utilize the VA Master Specifications and Design Manuals/Guides as found at www.cfm.va.gov/til/spec.asp. Other codes and standards are current editions of NFPA, OSHA, NSF and IBC. The C&A requirements do not apply, and a Security Accreditation Package is not required.
