SaaS eMail Working Group chair Bill Corrington eMail SaaS Pre-Solicitation briefing questions and answers (1 November 2010) FBO.gov Special Notice: Software as a Service Email and NOTICE OF PRE-SOLICITATION BRIEFING This announcement is to provide update to companies interested in the upcoming GSA acquisition for government-wide Software as a Service Email services. Background In June 2010, the Federal Cloud Computing Initiative (FCCI) established an Email Working Group to coordinate across government and industry on behalf of the FCCI, and to be the source of information, solutions, and processes that foster adoption of SaaS Email within the Federal Government. The working group quickly ramped up and began developing a strategy to deliver SaaS Email acquisition capabilities. In partnership with GSA SmartBUY and DoD Enterprise Software Initiative, the FCCI released an RFI on Software as a Service Email on August 30, 2010 (posted on FBO.gov https://www.fbo.gov/?s=opportunity&mode=form&id=d9c037373cc9491c9b3af089ad4e6e85&tab=core&_cview=1). The intent of the RFI was to gain insight into how the Federal Government ordering activities can replace their current enterprise support for email and collaboration with a highly innovative, creative, cost-effective, and evolving environment. Pre-Solicitation Briefing was held on November 1, 2010 The FCCI hosted a SaaS Email briefing on November 1, 2010. The purpose of this event was to brief agencies and vendors interested in the FCCI's acquisition strategy for SaaS Email, and to get feedback on the draft requirements so that the resulting acquisition can best meet the needs of the Federal Government. The briefing was held at MITRE in McLean, VA. GSA's SaaS Email Offering The FCCI has reviewed the RFI responses submitted and has completed draft requirements for review. The current plan is to update the requirements based on relevant feedback and release an acquisition. The objective is to offer three key services through SaaS Email providers for ordering activities. The requirements have been divided into three distinct Lots: Lot 1: SaaS Email Service Lot 2: SaaS Email Migration Service Lot 3: SaaS Email Integration Services All proposals must include Lot 1 services, while Lot 2 and 3 are optional.
