Description
Marine Expeditionary Forces (MEF) I, II, and III require shallow water and underwater egress training using the Modular Amphibious Egress Trainer (MAET) and for any future variations as required to train egress from submerged aircraft and submerged vehicles (Submerged Vehicle Egress Trainer “ SVET). The MAET training includes the Shallow Water Egress Training (SWET) techniques and familiarization and operation of the Helicopter Aircrew Breathing Device (HABD), Survival Egress Air (SEA), LPU-32 and newer versions of flotation devices. This training is for military non-aircrew helicopter passengers and is expandable for accommodating other training platforms, and passengers, as described in this document. The MAET is in life cycle support phase, but has the ability to incorporate other variants for training shallow and underwater egress. The support is an operation and maintenance program that includes certified instructors, operation of training systems, and preventive, annual, and on-site emergency maintenance of the MAET/SVET devices and related equipment. A maintenance program for the Helicopter Aircrew Breathing Devices (HABD) and Survival Egress Air (SEA) is also established and include the refurbishment of these devices on a quarterly basis. There are a total of four training systems installed at major Marine Corps bases; Camp Pendleton, CA, Camp LeJeune, NC, Okinawa, Japan, and Kaneohe Bay, HI.
