- Description
- NASA/GRC is hereby soliciting information about potential sources for R&D supportservices for NASA's Advanced Stirling Radioisotope Generator (ASRG) project under theRadioisotope Power Systems program. These services are required to be performed on ornear site at the NASA Glenn Research Center. A potential offeror must provide evidence of specialized skills and experience tocomplete the following tasks by December 2013 in support of a potential Discovery 12mission: Physics-based reliability analyses of free-piston Stirling convertor hardwarefor space-flight missions with durations up to 20 years of continuous operation;quantifying uncertainties in design variables of free-piston Stirling convertorcomponents from test data: identification of free-piston Stirling convertor failuremodes; development of test methodologies for accelerated stress testing of free-pistonStirling convertor components and assemblies; technology development of heat rejectionmanagement systems for Fission Power Systems (FPS) and Radioisotope Systems(RPS)applications; perform free-piston Stirling convertor structural dynamics testing;provide analysis and evaluation of free-piston Stirling convertor algorithms andarchitectures for space-flight applications; perform assessment of electromagneticinterference (EMI) of the Advanced Stirling convertor and mitigation methods as ittransitions to flight; provide electrical engineering to support convertor tests; andsupport the implementation of the flight Quality Management System for the AdvancedStirling Convertor which is to be used in the ASRG.No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. If asolicitation is released it will be synopsized in FedBizOpps and on the NASA AcquisitionInternet Service. It is the potential offerors responsibility to monitor these sitesfor the release of any solicitation or synopsis.Interested offerors/vendors having the required specialized capabilities to meet theabove requirement should submit a capability statement of 5 pages or less indicating theability to perform all aspects of the effort described herein. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes and is not to be construed as acommitment by the Government nor will the Government pay for information solicited. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation. Respondents deemedfully qualified will be considered in any resultant solicitation for the requirement. The Government reserves the right to consider a small business or 8(a) set-aside based onresponses hereto. All responses shall be submitted to Karin Huth no later than10/25/2010. Please reference ASRG2010 in any response. Any referenced notes may beviewed at the following URLs linked below.
