Description
BACKGROUND In 1998, Senator Ted Stevens focused national attention on the infrastructure and economic challenges faced by rural Alaska communities with the passage of the Denali Commission Act. The Act was signed into law on October 21, 1998 becoming Title III of Public Law 105-277, 42 USC 3121. The Commission is an innovative federal-state partnership designed to provide critical utilities, infrastructure and support for economic development in Alaska by delivering federal services in the most cost-effective manner possible. With the creation of the Commission, Congress acknowledged the need for increased inter-agency cooperation in addressing the unique infrastructure and economic challenges faced by America's most remote communities. STATEMENT OF NEED The Denali Commission has a need for program management services in Alaska to establish and maintain structures and functions needed to continue the implementation of the Commission's Transportation Program. The Denali Commission Act of 1998 42 SC 3121 (amended) provided for the creation of the Denali Access System, an advisory committee, and the general rules for the Commission to operate the transportation program. The Commission has managed the program under contract for the last five years and is transitioning to a model where the program will be managed by an internal Commission staff member and supported in some functions by a contractor. The Commission is now in need of a contractor to assist in providing support of the management of the Denali Commission's Transportation Program. Interested offerors may register at http://www.fedbizopps.gov to receive notification when the solicitation and any amendments are issued and available for downloading. Please note that the General Services Administration provides the notification service as a convenience and does not guarantee that notifications will be received by all persons on the mailing list. Therefore, we recommend that you monitor the FedBizOpps site for all information relevant to desired acquisitions. Responses to this request can be emailed to psb3@bpd.treas.gov - Attention: G. Hanna-MC.
