- The U.S. Army Joint Munitions and Lethality Contracting Command, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000 is interested in receiving information from industry and the academic community on current state-of-the-art technologies for an innovative, heavy-lifting, and highly dexterous manipulation system. The intended use of these technologies would be for integration on Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) robotic platforms to handle Unexploded Ordnances (UXOs) and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). Industry is encouraged to provide technical information on the following pertinent robot components in their submissions; lightweight, highly dexterous robotic arm(s) capable of lifting heavy objects, highly dexterous robotic fingers exhibiting near-human flexibility and greater-than-human strength, force and tactile feedback manipulators, intuitive and user-friendly system for control of multiple degrees-of-freedom robotics arms and fingers.Industry is encouraged to provide information on current state-of-the art technologies related to the following tasks with the aforementioned technical areas: manipulate small wires (e.g., hold a wire and be able to pull out the blasting cap), unzip a backpack, unscrew items, grip and turn door handles, push buttons, lift and grip a 155mm projectile object, and have the capacity to lift items weighing up to 120 lbs. This is a Sources Sought/Market Survey Announcement and submissions will be used for informational and planning purposes only. This notice does not constitute a formal Request for Proposal (RFP)/Request for Quote (RFQ), nor is the Government obligated to issue an RFP/RFQ. In addition, the Government does not intend to pay for any information provided under this notice. The Government is not obligated to notify respondents of the results of this survey. No award will be made because of this request for information. If a formal solicitation is issued at a later date, a solicitation notice will be published.
