Description
By way of this Notice, and in accordance with FAR 6.302-1, The Chicago District U. S. Army Corps of Engineers announces its intentions to award a Sole Source, Firm Fixed-Price Purchase Order to VEMCO Division, AMIRIX Systems Incorporated, 211 Horseshoe Lake Drive, Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada B3S 0B9 for the supply of seventy-five (75) transmitters, ten (10) coded acoustic receivers, one (1) 8 channel DSP Manual Tracking Receiver, and one (1) Directional Hyrophone. VEMCO manufactures the ultrasonic transmitters that are compatible to the VEMCO VR2 receivers that are ALREADY deployed in the river by the US Army Corps of Engineers and agency partners like the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. VEMCO transmitters are sophisticated and vital units used to monitor a ferocious species of fish, such as bighead and silver carp; this technology employs ultrasonic telemetry, a technology needed to support this Agency's Fish Deterrent structures while in its efforts to deter the species of Asian carp fish (e.g. bighead and silver carp fish). In that regard, these components are deemed to be available from this original source, VEMCO. If award were to be made to other than VEMCO, the government stands to endure a substantial duplication of costs that is not expected to be recovered through competition. The Classification Code for this procurement is North American Industry System (NAICS) 335999, with a small business size standard of 500 Employees. This notice does not constitute a solicitation for offers, proposals, etc. However, interested firms may send a capabilities statement NO LATER THAN the close of business on September 26, 2010. Statements should be sent to the attention of Anita R. Simpkins at anita.r.simpkins@usace.army.mil ; ensure that the subject line of your email includes the title/description of this announcement. Award is anticipated of said Contract on September 30, 2010. This announcement is in accordance with FAR 5.101(a)(1). The point of contact is Anita Simpkins at (312) 846-5372.
