Description
The 6th Contracting Squadron seeks qualified vendors to design and install fall protection system for the HQ USCENTCOM Building 847 Supply Warehouse, MacDill Air Force Base Tampa, Florida. The contractor shall furnish all design services, labor, tools, equipment, materials, supplies and services necessary to perform the following: 1.1. The contractor shall design and install a fall restraint system that protects two (2) workers from an approximate twelve foot (12') fall hazard from a rolling pallet mezzanine storage area. The design shall meet American National Standards Institute/American Society of Safety Engineers (ANSI) Z359 Fall Protection Code and Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) general industry standards and interpretations. The design shall be a travel restraint system per ANSI Z359.3, Safety Requirements for Positioning and Travel Restraint Systems, which limits employee travel in such a manner that the user is not exposed to a fall hazard (The design shall not be a fall arrest system). The employee shall be able to walk parallel and perpendicular to each rolling pallet bay line according to the attached drawing. The restraint system shall consist of two trolleys (two employees) and a single track for trolley travel, a self retracting lifeline (SRL) and lanyard for each trolley, anchorage attachments, and two full body harnesses with D‐Ring on rear (employees back), and harness connection hardware as needed. The SRL, retracted length, lanyard to harness connection point shall be set at 6 feet above the mezzanine floor. The overall design length of the restraint system (trolley track, trolley, SRL, lanyards, connectors, etc.) will allow an employee to walk to the front edge without being exposed to a fall and to the back wall (Figure 2). The trolley track shall be long enough to cover all pallet bays and shall be attached to the building wall and ceiling trusses in such a way as not to change the structural integrity of the roof and wall. The final design of the system shall be submitted to the HQ USCENTCOM CCHC Facilities Chief Engineer for final approval before proceeding to create and install the fall prevention travel restraint system. A site visit to the location for the work to be performed will be conducted on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 1000 hours. Interested vendors shall assemble at the MacDill AFB Visitor's Center no later than 0930 hours on 15 September 2010.
