- Description
- NASA intends to contract with Creare, Incorporated of Hanover NH, for thedevelopment of a Thermophotovoltaic (TPV) power system. The system shall be designed tooperate using a single General Purpose Heat Source (GPHS) module as the source of thermalinput.The TPV system shall have a system level engery conversion efficiency greaterthan 15%, a minimum DC power level of 38 We at 28 VDC output beginning of mission (BOM),a Specific Power greater than 6 We/kg, a rejection temperature no greater than 350 K, andbe capable of operation for a mission lifetime of fourteen years. In addition, the endof (EOM) power output shall be 85% of the beginning of mission output.This is a follow-on effort to work previously performed by and Creare Incorporated andrequires the use of existing hardware designed, built and operated exclusively by Creare. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local timeon Friday, September 15, 2010. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solelyfor the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on acompetitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed efforton a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solelywithin the discretion of the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.
