Description
NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT (RP -0239) The Department of Veteran Affairs, Charleston VA Medical Center has a requirement for Research and Development Urine Biomarkers of Lupus Nephritis Pathology and Response to Therapy. The procurement will be conducted on a sole source basis pursuant to the authority of FAR 6.302-1. The Department of Veteran Affairs intends to enter into a requirements type contract with the Medical University of South Carolina Division of Rheumatology and Immunology. The basis for restricting competition is that the Medical University of South Carolina Division of Rheumatology and Immunology is believed to be the only source that can provide this service. The NAICS code for this procurement is 541711 and the small business size standard is 500 employees. THIS NOTICE IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITVE OFFERS and a solicitation will not be issued; however, any firm that believes it can meet the requirements may give written notification to the Contracting Officer within 7 days from the date of the publication of this synopsis. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to comply with the requirements listed. Responses received will be evaluated; however, a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received, the Government will proceed with the sole source procurement with the Medical University of South Carolina Division of Rheumatology and Immunology. Responses are due September 7, 2010, 14:00 (Eastern Time). Responses shall be submitted via e-mail to the following address: lesabre.scott@va.gov. FAXED RAESPONSES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Telephone requests will not be accepted.
