Description
Border sample Fiche sample Q2: It is common in the industry to leave a small black border around all sides of the imagery to indicate to us, DAR and user that the frame was captured in its entirety. Is this acceptable? A2: Yes, we would like the border around the report image of no more than 1/16 to 1/8 inch. See attached "Border_sampl.PDF". Q3: From the numbers it seems that this project is a mix of COM fiche and Jackets (460000/2300=200 frames per COM Fiche, 31500/450=70 frames per Jacket). Is this correct? A3: 200 frames/COM and 70 frames/Jacket is just an estimated numbers; some COM and Jacket has less number of frames. Q4: Are the COM fiche consistent in their registration, number of columns and rows, inter-frame spacing, etc? A4: Number of columns and rows, and inter-frame spacing are very consistent. See attached "FICHE_Sampl.PDF" Q5: Are there a high number of partial fiche on the COM fiche (i.e. every 3rd fiche is only partially full)? Can the number or frequency of partial fiche be identified? A5: This information is not available. Q6: In order to calculate the cost to name each folder, we need to know the naming convention or be able to quote a price per character. Can DAR provide the following: a. average number of characters per fiche/folder b. if adjacent folders will be similarly named (i.e. if a report spans 10 fiche, the base name is typically the same with _01, _02, _03, etc.) and if so the average report length (in terms of number of fiche) c. If the folder name (indexing information) is in the title bar or on the frames themselves (like the starting and ending frame, or perhaps the index frame in the bottom right corner) d. If the title bar is opaque or translucent? A6: Each folder should contain all images found on each COM/Jacket. Folder and file naming convention should be named as follow (refer to "FICHE_Sampl.PDF" for detail): E.g. 1: Label of a COM with the following information: "DISION of AQUATIC RESOURCES FISH CATCH REPORTS FOR MONTHS OF JULY 1975 - JUNE 1978 (NO CURRENT LICENSE) 001"; Naming of the folder should be: FCRJul75_Jun78NoCuLi.001 Naming of the image should be (Note images are counting from left to right and top to bottom order): FCRJul75_Jun78NoCuLi.001_1.1.TIF (for image on row 1 column 1) FCRJul75_Jun78NoCuLi.001_3.5.TIF (for image on row 3 column 5) E.g. 2: Label of a COM with the following information: "DISION of AQUATIC RESOURCES FISH CATCH REPORTS FOR MONTHS OF JANUARY - DECCEMBER 1960 (AHI BOAT'S) " 003; Naming of the folder should be: FCRDec60_Dec60AhBo.003 Naming of the image should be (Note images are counting from left to right and top to bottom order): FCRDec60_Dec60AhBo.003_2.1.TIF (for image on row 2 column 1) E.g. 3: Label of a COM with the following information: FISH CATCH REPORTS FOR MONTHS OF JAN - APRIL 1959 (OAHU) " 003 END Naming of the folder should be: FCRJan59_Apr59Oa.003 Naming of the image should be (Note images are counting from left to right and top to bottom order): FCRJan59_Apr59Oa.003_3.7.TIF (for image on row 3 column 7) E.g. 4: Label of a Jacket with the following information: "MONTHLY FISH CATCH REPORTS FOR JULY 1981: "CATCHES" 1 OF 14." Naming of the folder should be: FCRJul81_Jul81Ca.001 Naming of the image should be (Note images are counting from left to right and top to bottom order): FCRJul81_Jul81Ca.001_1.1.TIF (for image on row 1 column 1) Q7: Daily turn around can increase labor and cost and significantly increases the amount of tracking required. Will DAR consider weekly turnaround? A7: Daily submission is part of the requirement for this RFQ; however, weekly turnaround is up to DAR discretion. Q8: How consistent is the contrast of the COM and Jackets? i.e. is it comment for a document to have been filmed very dark, directly adjacent to a document filmed very light? A8: It is varied. Some COM/Jacket is lighter or darker from one to another; however, within each COM/Jacket, contrast is very consistent. Q9: Are the fiche originals or duplicates or intermixed? A9: Duplicated copies will be provided. Q10: Are the fiche organized in any particular order? A10: Year and Month. Q11: Are all the fiche cut to the same physical dimensions? A11: Yes. Q12. Are the COM and Jackets separate or intermixed? A12: Separated. Q13: How many channels in the jacketed fiche? A13: See attached FICHE_Sampl.PDF file. Q14: Are the jacketed fiche chipped at all? (chipping is a process where individual frames are cut and inserted into the jacket one frame at a time. They can fall out, slip over the top of each other and extra care must be taken.) A14: No. They are in good condition. Q15: What are the total number of folders? A15: Each folder will store images found on each COM/Jacket. It is estimated about (2300+450) 3750 folders.
