- Description
- Amendment to respond questions. Please clarify the requirement for insurance at the rate of $5000- per animal when it is clearly stated that it is the responsibility of the supplier to guarantee the animals survive for 35 days after delivery. Obviously a loss during transport would not require any payment or responsibility on the part of the Government, and is at the sole risk of the supplier. Answer - Insurance is required to ensure the vendor is capable of delivering the animals once the contract is awarded. In the event of accident, injury, or death impacting multiple animals during vendor arranged transport, the Government requires assurance that the vendor is capable of fulfilling the requirement of providing replacement animals at the cost of the vendor without delay or Government intervention. The vendor may select to self-insure the animals and accept the liabilities if written confirmation is provided. The guarantee of survival after delivery relates to other health-related risk factors. With reference to the above RFQ, kindly advise if only captive bred animals are acceptable for this procurement. Answer - ONLY captive bred animals are acceptable. The species required is listed as "Chlorcebus aethiops" which is a monkey of African origin. No aethiops are found in the Caribbean area. The monkeys that have typically been supplied in the past are from the Caribbean but are classified as Chlorocebus sabaeus, the Caribbean green monkey. Kindly clarify with your lab if they seek African origin monkeys or Caribbean origin. Answer - As indicated on the Statement of Work, the request is for African Green Monkeys only.
