- Description
- The purpose of this amendment is to provide a list of contractor questions as well as government responses to those questions. 1. What are the types of articles to be tested? A1: Various unspecified samples of differing construction. 2. Is debris to be cleaned-up upon testing? Glass or transparent ceramic, composites, soft armor? A2: All debris must be cleaned and properly disposed of by contractor, regardless of material type. 3. How large are these articles and how much do they weigh? Concern is safely handling large, heavy objects. A3: Sizes and weight will vary. Some will be heavy. It is anticipated that samples may weigh up to 250lbs. 4. Do they contain any nano-technologies, such as carbon nanotubes or other nano / hazardous materials, that would be a direct inhalation or accumulated residual surface contaminate? A4: Compositions will vary. Materials are sensitive or classified. 5. What threats are to be tested? Example: RCC's thu armored rifle? Up to 20mm FSP? A5: Threats are sensitive or classified but may include small arms and/or FSP. 6. Are there special holdings fixtures involved? Will we have to provide? A6: Typical fixtures should meet most needs. Specialized fixture fabrication may be considered as GFE. 7. Estimates as to the number of shots to be fired? 5-shot V50, etc. A7: Tests will vary however some of the standardized tests will be defined to include number of shots and threat classes. 8. Reimbursement for barrels, other hardware that is eroded, worn, etc. by wear? A8: Reimbursement for normal wear and tear is not anticipated. Offerors should include all anticipated costs, including factors such as normal wear and tear in their pricing. 9. HVAC Filters? A9: The contractor is responsible for environmental and OSHA compliance. 10. What is the expected turnaround for testing from receipt of test article(s)? A10: Responsive turnaround is required. Within a week for typical samples is expected, longer turnaround on some samples may be acceptable, but quicker turnaround may be required for some samples. 11. How much range time is required per test, including? We would like to continue to use our range for our projects. A11: Testing under this contract is not expected to dominate the contractor's test facility. The government does however require that all testing be completed in a closely controlled environment where debris from prior, concurrent, and subsequent range activity would not interfere with the results of the test related to this effort.
