- Description
- Re covery Action - This modification is issued to obligate American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) of 2009 funds to the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory for the purpose of Robotic instrumentation tools and computational algorithms will be used to accelerate the development of metal organic framework (MOF) materials to capture CO2 High-throughput gas sorption instruments will be developed and installed at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory by Wildcat Discovery Technologies; these instruments will be used to quickly identify promising MOF structures. The performance of the new MOFs will be assessed and optimized process configurations will be determined by EPRI. This research is expected to lead to materials with improved selectivity and robustness that are worthy of large-scale testing and commercialization for C02 capture in power plants. The contract was awarded competitively. The contract is a cost reimbursement contract because of the uncertainties of the research mission of the laboratory makes it impossible to estimate with reasonable accuracy the costs of performance making the firm, fixed price contract type inappropriate.
