- Description
- DOE/NSTEC is seeking sources to provide two electrically motorized bi-fold vehicle gates (16' x 12' x 15") with associated safety and mechanical hardware with 325 dual control box, LED traffic lights, optical and mechanical safety devices, and to include the following: GATE REQUIREMENTS : Operation: •1. The first gate opening must be 15' wide and 16' in height •2. The second gate opening must be 12' wide and 16' in height •3. Gates must be top driven to reduce long-term maintenance requirements and installation cost •4. Gates must open to their full extent in 4 seconds or less •5. Gates must incorporate buried detection loops affording the capability of either automatic gate opening/closing or integration with proximity card access control Safety: the gate will be used by personal vehicles, government vehicles, commercial trucks, heavy equipment construction vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians. The closing gate must have features to prevent injury to personnel and prevent undue damage to vehicles and extended loads on vehicles. Therefore: •6. Gates must incorporate multiple optical safety devices mounted at various heights to account for a large assortment of vehicle sizes traversing the gates. This non-contact sensor prevents closing of gates while any person or object is within the operating space of the gate. •7. Gates must incorporate electrical safety buffers along leading (closing) edges of moving gate components which stop the gates from closing when obstructed. This contact sensor prevents the gate from fully closing and thus injury to personnel or damage to vehicles. •8. Provision must exist for emergency opening with powerless locking or unlocking of the gates •9. Traffic lights must be integrated into gate control system to provide visual notification to motorists or pedestrians to proceed when safe or to stop Reliability: •10. All gate support hardware must be rectangular steel (RHS) of greater than 1/8th inch surface thickness to provide adequate support and security •11. All hardware must be steel and thermally galvanized and powder coated to inhibit corrosion and rust •12. All external surfaces must be powdercoated in specific colors to comply with site-specific aesthetic directives (Stanford University). Colors codes to be provided by Stanford University. •13. Gates must be electro-mechanically driven to ensure long-term reliability •14. Assembled and tested prior to shipment to ensure proper operating tolerances •15. Mean time before failure (MTBF) >= 1.5 million duty cycles •16. Electric gate motor of >= 1.5 horsepower to ensure proper operation of the large and heavy gate components The NAICS code for this acquisition is 332999 with a small business size standard of 500.
