- Description
- VISN 5 Network Contracting anticipates the award of a firm-fixed price contract for the Research Building Expansion, Project No. 688-323 at the VAMC, Washington, DC. The contractor shall completely prepare the site for building operations including demolition and removal of existing structures, and furnish labor and materials and perform work for the Research Building Expansion project in Building 4 and its associated utilities, parking improvements, and landscaping as required by the drawings and specifications. The work includes general construction, alterations, parking lot and designated walks, grading, drainage, mechanical and electrical work, laboratory equipment, utility systems, elevators and dumbwaiters, necessary removal of existing structures and construction as detailed in the drawings in specifications. Employee Identification and Security Clearance will be required for all contractor employees. Proper identification (valid citizen and non-citizen ID cards, valid passport or naturalization papers) are necessary to go through the required access for the VA Medical Center. The applicable North American Industry Classification System Code for this procurement is 236220. To be considered a small business under this code, the SBA size standard is $33.5 million. The construction cost range for the project is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. The solicitation will be issued on or about August 27, 2010. All information for this solicitation will be posted on FedBizOpps at http://www.fedbizopps.gov. The Government will not provide paper copies of the solicitation. Bidders will be responsible for downloading their own copy of the solicitation package, drawings, specifications and all subsequent amendments, if any. The solicitation is issued under the authority of 38 U.S.C. 8127. Telephone, written, facsimile, or e-mail requests for the solicitation will not be honored. Potential bidders must register at FedBizOpps at www.fbo.gov in order to receive notifications and/or changes to the solicitation. Potential bidders are responsible for monitoring this site for the release of the solicitation package and any other pertinent information. The Interested Vendors List (IVL) will be activated and may be accessed and printed from the FedBizOpps website. All interested parties MUST be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) Database and VetBiz Vendor Information Pages at www.vetbiz.gov as a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) firm, and must have completed the Online Representations and Certifications Application (ORCA) at https://orca.bpn.gov prior to contract award. The date for the pre-bid meeting for this project will be posted in a future notice. The bid opening will be held on Monday, September 27, 2010 at 1:00 p.m.
