Description
The Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (Jefferson Lab) is seeking sources capable of studying, designing, and potentially implement the selected repairs and preventative maintenance of utility penetrations to the accelerator enclosure. The accelerator enclosure is a cast-in-place reinforced concrete tunnel that houses the beam pipe. The top of the enclosure is approximately 20 feet below grade. The enclosure is oval shaped, and starts at the injector located at the northwest. Service buildings located above the accelerator enclosure control and monitor beam operations, as well as provide tunnel access. Approximately 250 utility conduits connect the accelerator enclosure to the various service buildings. These conduits range from 6" to 20" in diameter. The 6" conduits are comprised of galvanized schedule 40 steel pipe, coated with coal tar epoxy and wrapped with polyethylene. Conduits over 6" in diameter are galvanized corrugated metal pipe coated with coal tar epoxy and wrapped in polyethylene. There are also three truck access enclosures, one each leading to Experimental Hall's A, B and C. Each truck access enclosure has one 42" conduit up to grade. The subcontract for this project may include preparation of engineering studies, investigations, designs, plans, specifications. The subcontract for this effort will be either an Architect-Engineer subcontract for a conventional design-bid-build or a design-build subcontract. The determination will be made after evaluation of all submissions is complete prior to issuing the solicitation. Multiple awards may be made if more than one design approach is determined to be of value to the Government/JLab. NOTE: A site visit will be held on August 18, 2010 at 1:00 pm to preview the site. See Sources Sought package for registration information. If your company is interested in competing for award of this subcontract for the work described in the Sources Sought Package, please register for this requirement on JLab Solicitation Bulletin Board ( www.jlab.org, Business Connections, Solicitation Bulletin Board).
