Description
The U.S. Department of Commerce (USDOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric and Administration (NOAA), and National Marine Fisheries in Miami, FL, intends to procure services to provide 25 Pop-Up Archival Transmitting Satellite Tags: Specifications: • weigh 53 grams or less in air, excluding tether and attachment (to animal) material, and positively buoyant when released from tether • operational range in open ocean environment attached to moving animals with highly-accurate measurements from -40 to +1000m, an actual measured temperature range of -5° to +45°C, and placed globally • lithium battery sufficient to sample data for one year and transmit more than 10,000 32-byte transmissions; tag with salt-water switch and with out-of-water sensor. • detailed data are stored in archival tag and summary data are transmitted at release. 8 Mbytes of non-volatile Flash memory to store 1.9 million records containing light, depth, and temperature samples. Approximately 1.5 years of data can be stored when sampling at 25-second intervals, or up to 4.5 years when sampling at 75-second intervals. Data are maintained in memory for more than 25 years even if the battery is exhausted. • 12-bit analog-to-digital converters to provide high-accuracy depth and temperature readings • 8-bit analog-to digital converter for light level and battery voltage readings • depth accuracy of +/- 1% of the reading +/- 0.1% of the range or better, measurable between 0-1000 m with a resolution of 0.5 m. Measurements from 1000 to 1800m may be made with a lesser degree of accuracy. • temperature accuracy of 1% or better, measurable from -5 to +45 deg. C with a resolution of 0.05C • on-board real-time clock temperature-compensated to accurately time data readings and release date • withstand at least 2000m of pressure This is a small business set-aside.
