- Description
- Listserv Research in the HIV prevention field has been expanding and diversifying at a rapid rate, making it difficult for researchers to stay current with the broad research literature. This is partly due to the fact that researchers in a variety of disciplines (medicine, psychology, anthropology, public health, etc.) have become engaged in the domestic and global fight against HIV/AIDS. HIV prevention research and policy developments are published in a wide variety of journals and sources, and these sources are difficult for individual researchers to consistently monitor. A systematic summary of abstracts from new research papers, books, presentations etc., particularly focusing on the behavioral, biological, and psychosocial aspects of HIV/AIDS, is critical to enable U.S. government researchers and their external research and program partners to stay abreast of the latest research and developments in HIV/AIDS prevention. The purpose of this project is to provide professional services to send a collection of HIV/AIDS-related abstracts (specifically focusing on the behavioral, psychosocial, and biological aspects of HIV/AIDS) of recently published articles, books and conference presentations at least three times per week to CDC government scientists as well as other researchers and community-based service providers in the HIV prevention field. Broader dissemination of this diverse research literature will enhance the state of HIV prevention research and programs in the U.S. and abroad. The contractor shall continuously review the scientific literature, including listservs and other sources in order to collate a collection of HIV/AIDS-related abstracts (specifically focusing on the behavioral, psychosocial, and biological aspects of HIV/AIDS). The review shall be of the scientific literature including the HIV/AIDS specific journals as well as those that most consistently publish articles related to HIV/AIDS in order to develop a collection of abstracts. Each collection of abstracts will be sent to U.S. government researchers, external researchers and HIV prevention service providers.
