Description
The Wilmington VA Medical Center, 1601 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE intends to issue a design/build contract for Project #460-09-920, Dental Room 2 East. The project consists of: 1.Conversion of dental office 2030 to a dental treatment room. 2. Split reception room 2011 into two offices. SPECIFICS: 1.D/B Contractor to convert room 2030 from an office to a dental treatment room incorporating the Department of Veterans Affairs guide plates for Dental: General Treatment Operatory (reference appendix E) and accounting for existing conditions and finish standards found in other treatment rooms. a.The wall separating rooms 2030 and 2031 is to be demolished and relocated to provide additional space required in room 2030. b.Work is to include all items necessary to meet the VA guide plate requirements including, but not limited to: casework, specialties, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and voice/data. c.Dental chair and ceiling mounted light to be supplied by the VA and installed by the Contractor. d.Air, oxygen, and cold water lines are located above ceiling in the middle of room 2027. These lines will need to be extended to room 2030 for dental service. e.Vacuum line is located near room 2023 and will need to be extended to room 2030 for dental service. f.Contractor to exclude X-ray unit from the scope of work. g.Provide new floor finishes (VCT), paint, and window treatment (basis of design is Mechoshade). h.Contractor shall be responsible for running new voice/data lines, terminating, and testing them in the telephone room adjacent to room 2059. 2.New partition wall and door is to be constructed in room 2011 to create two similarly sized offices. New partition wall to run East-West. Work to include: a.New floor finishes (carpet tile) in both rooms. b.New paint on all walls of both rooms. c.New window treatments (basis of design is Mechoshade). d.Extend duct work, and add a diffuser so that each office is served off of a separate diffuser. e.Replace/add control valve in the steam radiator and allow for local control in the office with the window. f.Separate lighting/switching so that each office has separate controls. Include occupancy sensors in each office. g.Add two electric outlets and two voice/data drops on either side of the new wall in each office. Contractor shall be responsible for running new voice/data lines, terminating, and testing them in the telephone room adjacent to room 2059. h.Relocate electronic check-in kiosk to the hallway (requires data and power). Kiosk to be mounted on new podium furnished by Contractor. 3.The DB Contractor is to plan all phasing of work in coordination with Hospital staff in order to minimize disruption to hospital operations. Contractor should plan for work requiring utility shutdowns and work above ceiling of the first floor to occur outside normal working hours. 4.Contractor shall institute and abide by Infection Control Risk Assessments criteria established by the Hospital ICRA nurse. 5.Identify and correct fire and life safety deficiencies by site inspections. The consultant shall address these items as required to correct deficient items. Evaluate all doors and hardware throughout the project for compliance with life safety code NFPA 101. Identify and correct improperly filled firewall penetrations. All areas in this building are fully sprinkled. 6.Construction Waste Management, Specification 01730 is to be included. 7.Fire Safety Peer Review. Architect/Engineer shall utilize the services of the Network 4 contracted Fire and Safety Engineer to conduct a fire and life safety peer review of the project. The architect/engineer shall provide a complete copy of the 95% document submission to the VA Project Engineer to forward for review. The contracted Fire and Safety Engineer will return comments to both the architect/engineer and the VA Project Engineer prior to the corresponding review meeting. No fee will be charged for this service. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 236220. The U.S. Small Business Administration Size Standard is $33,500,000.00. The SOLICITATION issue date will be approximately August 5, 2010 with an approximate response date of September 8, 2010. The solicitation will be an Invitation for Bid (IFB) and will be issued as a 100% Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business set-aside. There will be a pre-bid/site visit scheduled approximately August 12, 2010 and this date will be included in the solicitation. The project magnitude is between $25,000.00 and $100,000.00. The solicitation will result in a Firm-Fixed Priced Contract. The entire solicitation will be made available only on the Electronic Posting System (EPS) web site https://www.fbo.gov. Paper copies of the solicitation will not be available. Contract documents will be available when the solicitation is posted. Once the solicitation is posted, it is incumbent upon the interested parties to review the EPS website frequently for any updates/amendments to any and all documents.
