Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to issue a sole source purchase order to Sperian Protection Americas, Inc., 900 Douglas Pike, Smithfield, RI 02917-1874, for thirty-five (35) Sperian Protection BSL 4 suits complete with soft boots (socks) and not welded boots in various sizes (small, medium, large, extra large, and 2X). The suits have the following specifications: (1) standard white color with standard ferrous metal hardware; (2) integrated welded boots, as well as soft feet; (3) 10 inch (25 cm) high pressure hose 'pig tail' attached to an automatically adjusting air flow valve at the entry to the suit, terminating in a nipple compatible with our existing airline connection; (4) optical grade clear plastic insert in the visor; (5) small glove rings (on small suits only), large glove rings will be on all larger suits; (6) 4 inch (10 cm) belt loops (CDC will use in-house belts); (7) shortened rigid pipe on the air distribution system to increase wearer comfort; and (8) clamped and over pressure-tested hose and pipe fittings, with no sharp edges. Suits are compatible with suits and system already in use at CDC and are being purchased to replace outdated and damaged suits. CDC believes that this requirement is met by only one provider. This procurement will be processed under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 and 6.302-2. Only one responsible source and no other sources will satisfy agency requirements. No solicitation is being issued. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. This procurement is not set-aside for small business. For contractual questions contact Linda M. Young.
