- NASA/DFRC has a requirement for (quantity 2) Interactive Robot Characters withaccessories.The specifications are:Two different interactive robot characters will be required for usage with the variedtargeted audiences. One male 'wise-looking' robot such will be suitable for allaudiences whereby a female of somewhat ethnic background may add additional comfort to amore diverse audience or when wanting a female to speak at an all female event.Both robots will offer voice modifiers to raise or lower their pitch, remote controls,batteries, chargers, voice hearing transceivers, MP3 player, instruction booklet, andwarranty. Since the male robot will be used more often, he will have moving arms. Additional clothing is needed that can be worn by either robot includes a flight suit,lab coat, and astronaut suit and also where robots can be suited in any children'sclothing to adapt to seasonal changes or target audiences.An F-18 model aircraft adds another component draw to the robots that can be used byeither robot. Each robot can use the aircraft, be carried, or placed atop of a seatingplace.Technology purchased with the robots allow for pre-scripted audio program where the robotcan speak at specific timeframes with a specific message such as a greeting to a museumor event, 'live' conversation utilizing a built-in 2-way sound system, or where the robotis in one room and the operator is in another room.This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared inaccordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additionalinformation included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the onlysolicitation, which is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ); quotes are beingrequested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Offerors are required to usethe On-Line RFQ system to submit their quote. The On-line RFQ system is linked above orit may be accessed at http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eps/bizops.cgi?gr=C&pin=. Theinformation required by FAR Subpart 12.6 is included in the on-line RFQ.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the SimplifiedAcquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13.Questions regarding this acquisition must be submitted in WRITING (e-mail is preferred)no later than 07/22/2010. Quote/Proposals are due no later than 4:30 p.m. local time,07/28/2010. It is the quoter's responsibility to monitor this site for the release ofamendments (if any).
