- Modification 0002Government Response to QuestionsSolicitation Number: 10HQ37-NoSolicitationF-Natural Resource Management-remediation Mercury Contamination Question: I looked over the diagrams for the stilling well. I would like information concerning the dimensions of the stilling well and inquire to what depth they are buried. I had called earlier and realized that I had inquired about the dimensions of the manometer and not the stilling well. Answer: Stilling well dimensions vary but typically for this work are 4-ft by 4-ft steel-reinforced concrete or 24-inch to 48-inch diameter corrugated metal pipe structures. The depth they are buried varies with the size of the stream drainage area. These could be up to 20-30 ft of burial in extreme cases. Question:I'm writing in response to USGS Solicitation Number 10HQ37 - Remediation of Mercury Contamination. For background, GZA has gained significant experience in assessing and remediating sites impacted through the inadvertent release of mercury from manometers at compressor and metering stations along several major natural gas pipelines that transect the southern, central and north-central United States. The number of pipeline sites we have assessed totals approximately 300. So that we may provide you a complete capability statement and cost estimate, we would like to know approximately how many stilling well sites the USGS will address under this scope. Answer: 10 sites that USGS will potentially address under this scope, to include Ohio and Wyoming. Question:Can you please let us know the addresses in Michigan for the mercury testing in wells? Answer: USGS 04160570 NORTH BRANCH BELLE RIVER AT IMLAY CITY, MI Latitude 4301'49", Longitude 8304'02" NAD27
