- ERDC Contracting Office intends to solicit sources and pricing under the authority of FAR 13.500 for Global Digital Systems. Request vendor Global Digital Systems., Unit 32 Murrell Green Business Park, London Road, Hook Hants RG279GR United Kingdom. This procurement is being conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures --- only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than Thursday, 15 July 2010 - 3:00 P.M., CDST. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. Interested parties may submit quotes for consideration by the Government to angela.l.smoot@usace.army.mil. Please use solicitation number referenced in the subject line. This procurement is to purchase unconfined soil core seismic/acoustic test system. The system is compose of a custom soil sample holder, 2 sets of bender elements that serve as both transmitters and receivers, the bender element system master signal conditioning unit, bender element system software, and the bender element system slave conditioning box. This system will allow the measurement of p-wave and s-wave velocities from soil cores up to 4 inches in both height and diameter. This equipment support improvised detection and discrimination of improvised explosive devices to modeling fluid flow through levees. This system can measure p-waves and s-waves simultaneously with the same bender elements and the software allows the user to generate any desired waveform as a source. System Description 1. 1 off unconfined core holder and bender element support system: includes: Base plate-pedestal with bender element mounting position, 2 off spring loaded horizontal bender element supports, 1 off spring loaded vertical bender element support (Qty- 1 Unit) 2. Vertically propagating Bender Element S-wave Transmitter/P-wave receiver: 1 off combined s-wave transmitter/p-wave receiver bender element insert for top cap comprising cylindrical titanium insert with encapsulated element (nominal 20mm diameter x 22mm height) with flying leads for connection to data interface/signal generator/signal conditioning (Qty- 2 Units) 3. Vertically propagating Bender Element P-wave Transmitter/S-wave receiver: bender element insert for triaxial base pedestal comprising cylindrical titanium insert with encapsulated element (nominal 20mm diameter x 22mm height) with flying leads for connection to data interface/signal generator/signal conditioning (Qty- 2 Units) 4. Bender Element System Master Signal Conditioning Unit: Master signal conditioning unit for use with 1 pair of bender elements, amplification source and received signals (P and S Wave) with user controlled hardware gain levels from x10 to x500 via software, high speed 16bit 2,000,000 samples/second/channel, channels simultaneously sampled to acquire data from receivers and excitation for the transmitters (Qty-1 Unit) 5. Bender Element System Software: Software to control data acquisition and driving signal generation for P-wave and S-wave velocity tests. Summary of software functions- generation of single or repeated sinusoid, square or user defined waveforms, control of sampling rate and data handling, data display and analysis (Qty-1 Unit) 6. Bender Element System Slave Signal Conditioning Box: Slave signal conditioning unit used in conjunction with master control box. Creates 4 more channels to enable 2 additional pairs of elements to be used (Qty-1 Unit)
