- RECOVERY - PER FAR 5.7 THIS NOTICE IS PROVIDED FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY; THEREFORE FAR 5.203 DOES NOT APPLY. THIS OPPORTUNITY WAS AVAILABLE ONLY TO CONTRACTOR(S) UNDER THE CURRENT CONTRACT NUMBER(S): Dix Corporation, W912BV-10-C-1013 As part of the Operations and Maintenance, Army, Recovery Act, this modification is issued to Dix Corporation to perform the following work: The cab will be removed, the support beams cleaned and repaired as needed. The entire cab walkway will be removed and disposed of then a new re-designed walkway installed in order to eliminate the rust concerns in this area. The walkway would be light weight, simple, made of C-Channel framing with a standard style galvanized metal grating for the decking. It will have built in approved handrails. It would be built in two pieces approximately 12 feet x 4 feet, one for the left side of the cab and one for the right side. Each piece would be built in the shop to bolt into place on the crane. It will bolt to the existing crane support girders and the bottom of the cab. The bottom of a new or modified cab would support the section of walkway attaching to it. The cab will be replaced per the following specifications. Design Enclosed operator cab shall be new, designed and constructed in accordance with cmaa 70, em 385-1-1, and asme B30.2. The new cab shall house the operator's podium with push button and joysticks, panel boards, and other equipment as required. The new cab shall match the dimensions of the existing operator's cab. New cab support members and other provisions for attaching the new cab to the crane shall match existing. The new cab floor shall be designed for a load of 50 lb/ft2 of floor area, exclusive of the weight of any equipment attached to the cab. Provide space in cab for storage of a hand fire extinguisher. Cab Construction The cab shall be welded construction conforming to the requirements of AWS D1.1. The frame shall be constructed of structural steel shapes. The exterior sheeting of the cab shall be steel sheets not less than 1/8-inch thick. All seams shall be sealed to keep out moisture. The floor shall be made of reinforced steel plate not less than 1/4-inch thick. Provide 7 feet minimum floor to ceiling clear headroom inside cab. Doors shall be provided on the North and South ends of the cab with locking handles. The operators cab shall be blasted, primed, and painted prior to delivering to site. Cab Windows All windows shall be polished glass of the laminated safety type to avoid shards of glass falling down on personnel. Upper windows on the East and West sides of the cab shall be double hung sliding windows. Double hung windows shall either be single pane or double pane; all panes shall be laminated safety glass. All other windows shall be permanently fixed 1/4 inches thick laminated safety glass.
