Description
Description of Work: The intent of this contract is to secure services for mechanical site preparation: Pulling and piling of shrubs, and small trees not meeting "leave tree" definitions and piling of logging slash, dead material and recently cut material in some areas, using an excavator with boom and bucket or grapple to meet Forest Service standards and guidelines. Small trees may be cut or broken off rather than pulled. An excavator with bucket or grapple is to be used. Equipment shall be furnished on a fully-operational basis, of modern design, and in good operating condition with a competent, fully qualified operator. The equipment shall be of a low ground pressure type which meets the following specifications: Ground pressure shall not exceed a maximum of 6 psi; machine width maximum shall not exceed 12 feet from outside of track to outside of track; pivot-operator cab, engine, and attachment arm shall be able to swing 360 degrees while the working base remains stationary; reach attachment arm shall have a minimum reach of 20 feet from the center of the machine; and machine shall be equipped with a bucket at least 36" in width with a thumb attachment or grapple capable of grasping brush and pulling it from the ground. Location: The project is located on the Tahoe National Forest, Yuba River Ranger District. From Nevada City, CA follow Highway 49 north for approximately 30 miles to the 490 road in the Indian Valley Recreation Area. This road is also known as the Cal-Ida Road. From here follow the 490 road until it becomes the 25 road. Follow the 25 road for approximately 15 miles to get to the general area of the maps for this contract. Some units may be more quickly access from the 35 road which originates from the 25 road about 5 miles after the change from the 490 to the 25 road. Solicitation package will be uploaded approximately July 19, 2010. The due date for offers will be stated in the solicitation (which may be updated in possible amendments). Project will begin approximately September 8, 2010, for an estimated 59 days. The solicitation will be available for free download at www.fbo.gov. Hard copies will not be sent. Offerors should be signed up in the Central Contractor Registration (www.ccr.gov) and the Online Representations and Certifications Application (orca.bpn.gov) in accordance to Federal Acquisition Regulation.
