- Description
- RECOVERY - This action is funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Actof 2009. Task 093-R is a research and development effort sponsored by NASAs AeronauticsResearch Mission Directorate and the Airspace Systems Program. The contractor shalldevelop, test and analyze a prototype version of CTAS that has the ability to utilize anaircraft database model which may provide greater fidelity than the existing aircraftdatabase model. With government approval, the contractor shall implement elements of themodel that improve overall CTAS performance. This task requires the design andimplementation of an interface to the BADA aircraft performance model database within theCTAS Trajectory Synthesizer (TS). The interface would consist not only of the actual databut also the equations of motion. The software shall be validated to ensure the correct data is being extracted from thedatabase. The resultant trajectories shall be compared to those generated by the currentaircraft performance model. Both sets shall be compared to the track recordings ofactual flown trajectories (provided by the government). Where the experimental analysisrecommends improvement in trajectory calculation performance, these improved capabilitiesshall be incorporated into the CTAS software baseline. The contractor is required to provide two builds of CTAS software. The first build (BADAprototype) shall be used to conduct the laboratory experiment comparing the accuracy oftrajectories generated by the in-house and BADA model databases. The second build isrequired to incorporate approved BADA models into the CTAS baseline. This award notice is for INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. The task order was issued under anexisting Cost-Plus-Award-Fee contract, NAS2-03144, which was made on a competitive basis.Due to the variability of this research and development work a Cost-Plus-Award-Fee taskorder was determined appropriate.
