- Description
- The Forest Service anticipates releasing a solicitation for the Situk River Wildlife Watching Area (WWA) Improvements project in the near future. The purpose of this sources-sought synopsis is to identify firms that are interested in bidding on the acquisition. All sources who are interested in bidding on and performing this work should identify themselves with a one-page note faxed to the contracting officer, John Inman, at fax 907.228.6254 or 6215, on or before Monday, July 12, 2010. This one-page note should include the firm's name, address, DUNS number, small business status under NAICS 237310 ($33.5 Million) and any preference program eligibilities. The note should state whether the firm is registered in the CCR database (www.ccr.gov) and should state the firm's ability to obtain the needed bonding. And the note should include a statement describing the firm's recent or current similar work in remote areas such as Southeast Alaska sufficient to give the contracting officer confidence that the firm will be a sincere and viable bidder. The work of the Situk River Wildlife Watching Area (WWA) Improvements project includes demolition of existing site furnishings (such as fire rings, campsite markers, culverts, and wooden bulletin boards), preparing the site for new construction (such as roadway obliteration, clearing and grubbing, and selective tree clearing/limbing/bucking), earthwork (such as excavations, embankments and fills, trenching and backfills, and subgrade establishment), construction of new crushed surface roadways, parking areas, pedestrian trails, and aggregate pads), construction of an in-stream boat launch, construction of new culverts, construction of battered concrete wall and log picnic structure, installation of a vault toilet, installation of new furnishings (such as bulletin boards, tent platforms, picnic tables, fire rings, log curbs, and signs), landscape restoration, and dewatering of excavations and in-stream work areas. The estimated price range of the project is between $1 Million and $5 Million. A sealed bid acquisition, with bid bond and performance and payment bonds is anticipated. A full and open competition is anticipated at this time based on the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program (Pub.L. 100-565 and FAR Subpart 19.10). The words 'anticipates' and 'anticipated' are used in this sources-sought synopsis because particulars of the acquisition approach may change based on the results of the sources-sought synopsis. The work location is on Forest Highway 10 in the Yakutat Ranger District of the Tongass National Forest.
