Description
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has a requirement to acquire and test approximately 7 dB Systems, Inc.'s Model 350 Glide Slope (GS) Antennas to support 2 systems and 1 spare. This market survey announces the FAA's intent to award a single source contract to dB Systems, Inc., 2005 South Turf Sod Road, Hurricana, UT 84737. The present GS antennas used with the MK-20 and MK-20A ILSs barely meet the ICAO continuity of service requirement (CoS) of 4000 hours. This causes many of the CAT II/III ILSs to be downgraded to CAT I causing a negative impact on capacity and an increase in the cost of precision approach services. Over the past two years, antennas from several antenna manufactures were evaluated by FAA for design improvements to meet current requirements without success. Additionally, FAA has redesigned some of the current antennas in an attempt to meet the CoS requirements also without success. FAA has reviewed dB System's proposed totally new, preliminary design for a more stable GS antenna. To assure total compliance with our specifications, FAA intend to task dB Systems to manufacture the antenna and conduct appropriate verification testing. A fair and reasonable price will be negotiated for all deliverables under this procurement. A competitive solicitation is not available for this procurement. The FAA is not seeking or accepting unsolicited proposals. The FAA will not be liable for any costs associated with the preparation of responses to this announcement nor reimburse or otherwise pay any costs incurred by any party responding hereto. Questions are comments must be received by Greg Rugila at greg.rugila@faa.gov not later than July 30, 2010.
