- June 21, 2010 DOI Office of Surface MiningNotice of Intent This is a NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT using Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 6.201, for Full and Open Competition after exclusion of sources and FAR Part 13.5, Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. The Office of Surface Mining, Western Region, 1999 Broadway, Denver, Colorado, 80202 has a requirement to procure the following item: Statement of Work The As part of the Office of Surface Mining, Western Region (WR), support of the Minority Higher Education Program (MHEP) for Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs), we require three minority interns with Earth Science backgrounds (ex. geospatial, biology, soil scientist) to serve up to a four month internship at our Denver location. The interns will be responsible to provide assistance in support of SMCRA. The minority interns in return will receive broad knowledge in applying their education in a real world atmosphere. The Department of The Interior (DOI) and OSM have utilized the services of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) to identify minority interns that meet our requirements and standards. DOI and HACU currently have a signed Memorandum of Understanding to renew and strengthen mutual efforts to promote educational and career opportunities for Hispanic students.The Government intends to award a sole source contract to:Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, 8415 DataPoint Drive, Suite 400, San Antonio, TX 78229-3277 The Government will consider all responses received within 5 days after date of publication of this synopsis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed purchase order based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
