Description
The Food and Drug Administration is conducting a market survey to assess the availability and technical capability of small business firms as defined by NAICS code 339999. A Tomographic physical whole-body phantom for radiation dosimetry will enable the definite checks of the radiation dose received at any position inside the body of a reference adult human. The tomographic physical phantom to be acquired will have the following characteristics: All capability statements furnished should meet these technical requirements: • It will be made of slices with a thickness of approximately 5 mm. • Each slice will be segmented into its constituent major organ systems to include air spaces if appropriate. • The phantom tissue composition will be tissue equivalent and consistent with current ICRP publications for standard man organ systems. Tissues approximate the tissue density and chemical composition of the organ system. • Whole body and organ physical characteristics will be consistent with those described in current ICRP publications for standard man. • Extremities such as defined arms below the shoulder joint and legs below hip joints may be developed, designed and constructed as a single unit, however they will contain the major tissues found in these extremities., then re-sampled at 5 mm slice thicknesses. • The phantom is accompanied by an enclosed disk that contains the tomographic data set used for the fabrication of the phantom. The Master Tables contain a wealth of information regarding the specific organs comprising the phantom and have multiple worksheet pages. This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP) or invitation for bid. Please provide two (2) copies of your capability statements to Allison Mlawsky via email at Allison.mlawsky@fda.hhs.gov or via fax at (301) 827-7039 by 12 noon, June 15, 2010.
