Description
VA Northampton Building 1 East Wing Design-Build Project Questions, Set #1 1.What percentage of rooms does the VAMC require to have Med. Gas? The Design Guide calls for anywhere between 10% and 100% depending on the need of the particular facility. Response 1 “ Please assume 50% of the rooms will have medical gas (air, vacuum, oxygen). 2.We are assuming all FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment) will be part of our responsibility to design. Is the contractor required to provide FF&E as part of the package as well? We consider FF&E to be: Headboards, Furniture, artwork, televisions and all other equipment not necessarily a permanent part of the project. Response 2 “ Please assume all FF&E as defined above will be provided and installed by the Government. 3.The website only contains the solicitation and amendment #1 for this project. Were any other documents to be posted? Please Advise. Response 3 “ There are additional documents consisting of existing floor plans and partial existing building conditions posted. 4.This section references preliminary drawings, are these or when will these be made available? Response 4 “ Partial preliminary drawings are posted but the majority of the as-built documents will not be posted but will be available to the successful proposer. 5.Are as built drawings available for determining dimensions? Response 5 “ Partial floor plans and building sections are posted. 6.Are the master plan requirements available? Response 6 “ These will be developed during the design process. 7.The solicitation references a cost proposal. What do we estimate? There is no way to determine sizes, dimensions, specifications, finish levels, etc. Response 7 “ These will be determined during the design process. 8.What will be the number of beds/rooms in the renovated space? Response 8 “ Approximately twenty to twenty-five patient beds will be in the renovated space. 9.Can the authority provide a blueprint showing the proposed construction limits of this project? Response 9 “ Partial floor plans and building sections are posted. 10.Can the authority provide a description of exterior improvements required for this solicitation? Response 10 “ A small addition to the building will be developed during the design process. 11.Is the entire area available at once or is phasing required? Response 11 “ The entire second floor in the proposed area of renovation will be available at once but the adjacent areas and areas beneath the proposed construction will be occupied by medical offices. Construction on the East Wing project shall not begin before construction is complete for the West Wing project, scheduled for June 2011. 12.If phasing is required, please designate what phases are required? Response 12 “ The entire second floor in the proposed area of renovation will be available at once but the adjacent areas and areas beneath the proposed construction will be occupied by medical offices. Construction on the East Wing project shall not begin before construction is complete for the West Wing project, scheduled for June 2011. 13.There is no way to determine the asbestos scope of work for this project, does the authority have quantities that can be provided for this solicitation? Response 13 “ Asbestos is prevalent in all flooring and flooring mastic and exists also in some piping insulation. Lead containing paint is prevalent throughout all wall, ceiling and trim finishes. 14.Is the building being used for hospital purposes during the construction period? Response 14 “ The entire second floor in the proposed area of renovation will be available at once but the adjacent areas and areas beneath the proposed construction will be occupied by medical offices.
