- Description
- Field Vacuum Extractor for Rapid Collection of Chemical, Biological and Nuclear Residue Idaho National Laboratory, managed and operated by Battelle Energy Alliance LLC, is soliciting expressions of interest from qualified companies interested in licensing and commercializing its "Field Vacuum Extractor for Rapid Collection of Chemical Species." Preferred candidate(s) will be offered an opportunity to negotiate a field of use license agreement to manufacture and commercialize the Field Vacuum Extractor (FVE) or through a partnership further develop and refine to facilitate deployment of FVE technology. Technology: To address the collection of chemical attribute signatures (CAS) from fixed surfaces the INL developed a vacuum extraction device and methodology. The INL developed this inexpensive method to non-destructively recover and detect CAS, such as chemical warfare agents (CWA) or toxic industrial chemical (TIC), from surfaces. This device extracts chemicals absorbed onto or into the surface in a method ready for analysis by most forensic laboratories. Development Status: This low cost device has been produced and field tested. The INL has filed a patent application for this intellectual property. Benefits: The key benefit is this device is that it non-destructively extracts compounds of interest from surfaces that would be unobtainable with wipes or swabs and sequesters them for analysis. Additional benefits: Inexpensive Lightweight No power required Disposable parts to eliminate contamination Easy to use This is not a procurement. Companies and/or interested parties who feel they are capable of performing this project are invited to indicate their interest by providing the INL a brief summary of their capabilities, including short description of facilities, personnel, and existing manufacturing experience as it relates to this technology. Please provide your written statement of interest within 30 days from the date this announcement is published to ensure your consideration.
