Description
NASA Ames Research Center has committed support for specific efforts under theAmerican Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Recovery Act funds for NASAs AviationSafety Program Research funded by the Recovery Act. The NASA Research Announcement (NRA), NNH08ZEA001N-AAD2, sought proposals that focus onaging and damage processes in new aircraft designs and 'young' aircraft, rather than lifeextension of legacy vehicles. There is an emphasis on new and emerging materialsystems/fabrication techniques and the potential hazards associated with aging-relateddegradation. The scope and technical content for the AAD Project was developed to accomplish twoobjectives: (1) deliver technology to address specific end-user problems and (2) develop fundamentaltechnology (not isolated to a single application) to enable integrated tools. NASA Ames Research Center intends to issue a contract entitled ' DEVELOPMENT OF A RISKASSESSMENT FRAMEWORK FOR DETECTING, PREDICTING AND MITIGATING AIRCRAFT MATERIALINSPECTION ', which will focus on developing innovative tools, concepts, methods, andtechnologies that will improve the intrinsic safety of aircraft and aviation operations. The proposal was previously submitted in response to a NASA Research AnnouncementNNH08ZEA001N-AAD2, Research Opportunities in Aeronautics (ROA) 2008 issued March 7,2008. This effort will be performed at SHERYCK, LLC., authorized under the American Recoveryand Reinvestment Act of 2009. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. This announcement will not result in a Request for Proposal; this announcement is forinformational purposes only. All questions and/or concerns must be submitted to the point of contact contained hereinin writing via e-mail to the following address: Christine.L.Munroe@nasa.gov. An ombudsmanhas been appointed. See NASA Specific Note 'B'. Information about major upcoming ARCprocurement actions is available athttp://ec.msfc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eis/admin/admin.cgi?center=ARC
