Description
NASA/KSC has a requirement for a Nano-Satellite Launch Adapter System (Wafer) Study. The Launch Services Program (LSP) at Kennedy Space Center (KSC) requires a Nano-Satellite Wafer Study to determine the feasibility of stacking multiple nano-satellite launch adapter systems on spacecraft (Falcon-1e, Pegasus XL, Taurus XL, Minotaur I). The Contractor shall perform a clearance analysis of the wafer to the Launch Vehicle fairing envelope for the above listed launch vehicles. Positive clearance margin must be maintained. Analysis shall be performed using the NLAS Adapter as follows: *Determine the number of wafers that can be accommodated for each Launch Vehicle. *For each Launch Vehicle, determine the optimal stacking order of wafer with respect to the Launch Vehicle Payload Adapter, spacecraft interface, and the spacecraft. *Identify the clearances to the fairing envelope for the wafer. OPTION - Contractor shall repeat the above described analyses with the Operationally Responsive Space (ORS) funded wafer/adapter if available during period of performance of study. The expected period of performance is five (5) months from award with a study completion date of October 1, 2010. NASA/KSC intends to award this study to CSA Engineering as CSA is uniquely qualified to meet the Government's requirements. The Government intends to acquire the study through FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit a detailed description of capabilities, qualifications, and relevant past performance that establishes ability to perform the effort. This information must be submitted in writing to the identified point of contact no later than 4:00pm eastern time on June 9, 2010. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed. See NASA Specific Note "B".
