Description
For Informational Purposes Only. This action is Work Authorization No. LANL-10-EE-09-3013 (LASO# RA-10-033) and is issued under Management and Operating (M&O) Contract number DE-AC52-06NA25396. This action is funded by Recovery Act dollars. The M&O Contractor DUNS number is 175252894. This action is awarded under Modification no. 129 that recognizes this Work Authorization. The description of the work involved under this Work Authorization is shown below: $200,000 in OPE (operating funds) funding is provided for Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) to conduct risk assessment studies of key features of the sequestration sites and by more in-depth modeling of leakage processes from wells located in the region. Justification for Non-Fixed Price Type of Contract for WA*: Los Alamos National Security (LANS) was selected by the Department of Energy (DOE) to participate in this American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA) work as part of a Laboratory due to LANL's expertise in the subject matter. The work falls within the Program of the Office of Fossil Energy, which is allowed under the prime contract Section J, Appendix B, "Statement of Work", Section 3.4.3, entitled "Energy Supply" of the current Contract based on the following paragraph: "The Contractor shall conduct research that addresses energy supply issues by applying capabilities in the areas of exploration, reservoir modeling, integrated assessments, and environmental transport. The Contractor shall support DOE/National Nuclear Security Administration's efforts in the broad areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy, fossil energy, and nuclear energy." This is a Cost-Reimbursable type contract.
