- Description
- This acquisition is to address the challenges of issues related to interoperability, accessibility, scalability, deployability, and total cost of ownership, the AF is seeking to implement an Enterprise Information Management (EIM) system, expanding core services, controlled at the enterprise level, to AF network users, to include a foundational framework of collaboration, content management, workflow, task management, records management, and associated search and online storage capabilities. Based upon the current AF infrastructure, investments, and expertise base, it is envisioned that the EIM system will be built around Microsoft SharePoint 2010 as a front-end, also providing collaboration and content management capabilities, and IBM FileNet P8, providing back-end workflow, task management, and records management capabilities. The list of IBM FileNet P8 suite of tools licensed by the Air Force includes the following. 1. IBM FileNet P8 Business Process Manager (P8 Server Platform, Content Manager, Business Process Manager e-Forms, Business Activity Monitor, Business Process Framework, Connector to Microsoft Visio. iWidgets Mashup Center)2. IBM InfoSphere Enterprise Records3. IBM InfoSphere Classification Module4. IBM InfoSphere Content Collector for e-Mail 5. IBM InfoSphere Content Collector for File Systems6. IBM Content Integrator Enterprise Edition 7. IBM Enterprise Content Management Education Services Packages The hosting strategy and architecture for EIM implementation will be critical to program success. Toward this end, the AF has decided to conduct market research to determine the potential of a "Cloud Computing" approach to hosting EIM.
