- Description
- This is a notice of intent, not a request for a proposal. A solicitation document will not be issued and proposals will not be requested. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) Station Support/Simplified Acquisition (SS/SA) Branch, on behalf of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) intends to negotiate and award a sole source purchase order to TTP Labtech, Ltd, Melbourne Science Park, Melbourne Royston, SG8 6EE, Great Britain (GBR) for a Mosquito Liquid Handling Robot. NINDS will study G-protein-coupled receptors. To determine their atomic structure, a new promising method called lipid cubic phase LCP crystallization will be employed. This method leaves receptors within a lipid environment thus increasing the chance of obtaining high-quality crystals. The features are described below: •Mosquito uses unique, patented and proven positive displacement disposable tip technology for precise, reliable, repeatable and accurate pipetting of sub-microliter volumes of liquid •Automated positive displacement pipetting device •Automated disposable tip based pipetting device capable of accurately delivering nL volumes •Pipetting device capable of handling wide ranges of liquid viscosities without set-up changes •Crystallization robot capable of aspirating multiple source liquids and dispensing them simultaneously •Low volume crystallization robot that does not rely on tip washing and can therefore guarantee zero cross contamination of samples •LCP robot with small foot print TTP Labtech, Ltd is the only manufacturer who sells the Mosquito robot. TTP Labtech has developed a lipid cubic phase robot which has a small foot print, fits anywhere into a laboratory and is user-friendly. TTP LCP robot will allow NINDS immediately to use the robot productively, providing us with a platform to obtain well-ordered crystals. The acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition using FAR 12 procedures and exempt from the requirement of FAR Part 6, Competition Requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this synopsis. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Comments to this announcement, referencing synopsis number 1582861 may be submitted to the NIDA, Station Support/Simplified Acquisition Branch, 31 Center Drive, Room 1B59, Bethesda, Maryland 20892-2080 and Attention: Jasmine Snoddy, Contract Specialist.
