Description
Market research and investigation is being conducted by the Defense Supply Center Philadelphia, Clothing and Textiles Directorate to seek domestic sources for Leather, Sheepskin, Hair Type in various items. The Sheepskin is required for the palm, finger palm, and components of the shell of the Summer Flyer's Gloves, Aircrew, Cold/Wet Protective Gloves, Intermediate Cold and Intermediate Cold/Wet Gloves, and Unisex Gloves, and for the edge roll of the Flyer's Helmets. Specification requirements for the Sheepskin are primarily contained in Military Detailed Specification 32067, dated July 12, 2000, entitled Leather, Sheepskin, Chrome Tanned, and cited Type A. The end items are popular items and heavily required during contingencies, and the annual requirements are frequently 100,000 to 400,000 units. More specifically, there is a current requirement for the Cold Weather Flyer's Glove HAU 15/0, MIL-DTL-32067. DSCP's annual requirement for the HAU 15/P Flyer's Gloves is 392,713 pair for the base year and 292,755 pair for the following three option years. Information is required to determine if the domestic availability will provide the quantity and quality necessary to meet its requirements: 1) Identify all places of performance; 2) the total monthly and yearly maximum capacity; 3) the minimum or desired monthly and yearly quantities you would produce and 4) the production lead-time need to start production.
